and in 70 days you will be twice as good! You can manage that, can’t you?
I was chatting with a guy online, and he was all disgusted that he only got 50 visitors to his site a month. I asked him about his back links and how he was getting more out there. He told me he was getting 30 back links a month (in a quite proud online chatting tone). He asked me about my links. I told him we get 10,000 a month.
A few days later, he is saying he is going to build free WordPress themes and they will have links in them and that is his new link building strategy. I asked him how he was going to get traffic to his themes? If he had time to test his theme everytime WordPress makes an update? I haven’t heard from him for a few days….
This is very common to what happens to people with their first Internet project. They are all gung-ho, build something, don’t send it any traffic, build a few pitiful links, then start looking for a magic pill to make their sites popular.
I have had several requests for private coaching, so here is the deal on it. It’s expensive. Use the contact page to send me an email. Describe what you are looking for in a coach and how I can get a hold of you. If your idea of a coach and my idea line up, if I have time, if your project sounds interesting and if you are willing to commit to a minimum of six months, I might take you on. Oh, it’s expensive, and I kick your butt, just like your coach in high school, except if you do what I tell you to do, you make more money. If you are trying to make money on the Internet, health or any other niche, I can improve your business.

It is the night before Thanksgiving (a US holiday) and I am waiting until it is time to head to the airport to pick up my son. I am struck by the opportunity we have had over the last 15 years to really start businesses for ourselves without any of the obstacles faced by the previous generations. Really for the price of a netbook or the time to go to the library and get Internet access you can start a business for yourself and have the opportunity to compete. It is no longer about who you know, leveraging your contacts or any of that. Read the rest of this entry
I hit a dozen forums a week to get some vibe on what is going on. I see a lot of posts that look like: “I can’t find a niche”, “What about blah blah blah product”, “As soon as I get my hosting figured out I am going to get started.”, “I bought xyz product and it is too (basic/hard/simple/complex) for me”, “I tried that last week and it didn’t work for me.”, “Which theme should I use?” ….
